Pakistan Consumer Inflation Eases to 10.3% in September

Pakistan’s consumer inflation eased to 10.3% year-on-year in September 2026, down from 11.1% in August, according to official data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The decline was more pronounced in rural areas, where inflation fell to 10.5% from 12.2% in August. Urban inflation also eased, reaching 10.1%, compared with 10.4% the previous month.

Despite the annual decline, prices continued to rise month on month. The Consumer Price Index increased by 1.3% in September, compared with a 1.2% increase in August.

The September inflation reading was significantly higher than the 5.8% recorded in September 2025, highlighting the continued pressure on household budgets.

Wholesale inflation also accelerated, with the Wholesale Price Index rising 13.3% year-on-year in September, compared with 11.8% in August.

The latest figures indicate that while headline consumer inflation has moderated from August, price pressures remain elevated across Pakistan.
