India backing Afghan Taliban:Khawaja Asif

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has alleged that India is backing the Afghan Taliban in Kabul and using Afghan soil to wage a low-intensity war against Pakistan.

In an interview with Arab TV, Khawaja Asif said the Taliban have become India’s proxy and Pakistan has clear evidence of connections between New Delhi and the Taliban regime.

He stated that when a Taliban minister visited India, clashes broke out along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Pakistani forces, he added, gave a strong response to the Taliban’s aggression, though several soldiers were martyred in the fighting.

During the interview, the Defense Minister also referred to Pakistan’s previous conflicts with India, claiming that during one such war, India was on the brink of defeat and seven Indian aircraft were shot down — a fact he said was also mentioned by the U.S. President.

Khawaja Asif recalled that Pakistan had sincerely sought peaceful relations with Afghanistan but warned that if Kabul continued to side with India, Pakistan would respond firmly, even if action inside Afghanistan became necessary.

He reiterated that any use of Afghan territory for terrorism against Pakistan would be met with a strong and decisive response.
