Actor, director, and playwright Yasir Hussain has responded to stylist and photographer Akif Ilyas after Ilyas criticised what he described as the “cheap sense of humour” used by some comedians during a recent television appearance.

Speaking on Rise & Shine, Ilyas argued that comedy should not rely on mocking people, their personal lives, or friendships. He specifically mentioned Hussain and said comedians could learn from legends such as Anwar Maqsood and Moin Akhtar, whom he praised for making audiences laugh without relying on offensive material.

Hussain addressed the remarks through Instagram, but his response focused largely on gratitude for Ilyas’ early support. He recalled that Ilyas photographed his first-ever photoshoot without charging him and said he continues to acknowledge the contribution of senior artists to his career.

While Hussain said he did not know what prompted Ilyas’ comments, he added that he respected his senior’s opinion.

He ended his message warmly, saying, “I love you, Akif bhai.”
