Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Iran, with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stating that Islamabad is ready to expand cooperation with Tehran across all sectors.

Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who is on an official visit to Pakistan. The two leaders held one-on-one talks followed by delegation-level discussions, reviewing bilateral relations, trade, regional developments and opportunities to deepen cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics operations, border management, efforts to curb illegal immigration and the fight against human trafficking. They also emphasized the need for coordinated action against drug smuggling and terrorism originating along the Afghan border, while pledging closer coordination between the relevant institutions of both countries.

Naqvi praised the efforts of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni to promote regional peace, expressing hope that ongoing diplomatic initiatives would yield positive results. He reiterated Pakistan’s desire to build stronger relations with Iran while supporting peace and stability in the region.

Momeni’s visit also included meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, during which discussions focused on regional security, border cooperation, and Pakistan’s continued support for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East.
