Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese nationals and investors, describing their protection as the government’s highest priority. Speaking at the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference in Islamabad, the prime minister assured Chinese companies that comprehensive security measures remain in place to support investment and long-term cooperation.

During the event, Shehbaz welcomed the signing of nine agreements worth approximately $440 million between Pakistani and Chinese private companies in the pharmaceutical sector. He said the partnerships would strengthen bilateral economic ties under the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0) and help Pakistan become a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, vaccine production, research, and exports.
The prime minister praised China’s continued support for Pakistan, noting that Beijing has invested more than $30 billion during the first phase of CPEC. He expressed confidence that the newly signed agreements would soon translate into practical projects, creating jobs, attracting foreign investment, and improving access to life-saving medicines.
Shehbaz also commended the efforts of government officials, diplomats, and business leaders from both countries for strengthening economic cooperation. He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to providing a secure and business-friendly environment for international investors while expanding collaboration with China in key sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, and innovation.
