The Sindh government has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the upcoming Aurat March in Karachi, but with a lengthy list of conditions covering participants’ clothing, slogans, speeches, and security arrangements. The march is scheduled to take place at Sea View on Mother’s Day, May 10.

According to the official notification, organisers must ensure that the event remains peaceful and complies with all applicable laws. Authorities have banned anti-state, anti-religion, and “objectionable” slogans or banners, while also prohibiting speeches against state institutions or the ideology of Pakistan. Participation or representation by banned organisations has also been restricted.
The NOC further states that participants should not wear “objectionable clothing” or promote LGBTQ-related messaging during the gathering. Organisers have also been instructed to coordinate closely with law enforcement agencies and implement strict security protocols, including walkthrough gates, metal detectors, volunteer searches, and controlled entry and exit points.
Authorities warned that the permission could be cancelled at any time without explanation if any condition is violated. The development comes after Aurat March organisers earlier complained about delays in obtaining official approval for the event.
