Sindh Govt on High Alert as Rain Spell Forecast Across Province

The Sindh government has placed all district administrations on high alert in anticipation of a new rain spell expected across the province later this week. Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah issued the directive during a high-level meeting, following forecasts by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

According to the PMD, rainfall with intermittent gaps is likely between March 25 and March 29 in several parts of Sindh. Authorities, including commissioners and deputy commissioners, have been instructed to remain present in the field and ensure full preparedness during this period.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been directed to issue an advisory, while local government bodies have been asked to keep all drainage machinery functional to prevent urban flooding. Officials were also told to take immediate action against unsafe billboards and structures that could pose risks during strong winds and rain.

Additionally, awareness campaigns will be launched to inform citizens about precautionary measures. The Met Office has also warned of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and possible crop damage in parts of the country, advising farmers and travelers to remain cautious during the forecast period.
