The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) is set to hear the application of lawyer and human rights activist Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir on December 11. She, along with her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha, has appealed against the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to deny a stay on their trial in the controversial social-media posts case.

The couple—originally indicted under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA) for allegedly posting content that could incite divisions—argue that the trial has serious procedural flaws, including recording evidence in their absence, which violates their right to a fair trial under the law.
Their petition to the SC requests urgent reconsideration, citing threats of “irreparable loss” if the trial continues without a fair hearing or stay.
