The United Nations Security Council has unanimously approved a U.S.-drafted resolution to deploy an international stabilisation force (ISF) in Gaza, endorsing a key part of former President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace proposal.

Passed with 13 votes in favor—and abstentions from Russia and China—the resolution also establishes a “Board of Peace,” a temporary governing body chaired by Trump, to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction and demilitarization until the end of 2027.

Crucially, the text includes a reference to a “credible pathway” toward Palestinian self-determination and statehood, contingent on reforms by the Palestinian Authority and progress in rebuilding Gaza.

Hamas has strongly rejected the resolution, calling it a form of “international guardianship” and warning that an imposed force would undermine Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
