According to her family, Riffat Ara Alvi, the mother of journalist Arshad Sharif, died on Sunday.

On October 24, 2022, Arshad, a well-known journalist who received the 2023 Pride of Performance award from then-President Arif Alvi, was shot and killed in Kenya. Politicians and media outlets called for an investigation into his death, although the Supreme Court and media have criticised the investigation’s lack of progress.

Javeria Siddique, the widow of the late journalist, wrote on X today, “Arshad Sharif’s mother, who was demanding justice for her son, has passed away.”
