Today, UK and Indian leaders finalized a £350 million ($468 million) contract in Mumbai, equipping the Indian Army with Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMMs). Prime Minister Keir Starmer, alongside Narendra Modi, announced the Thales UK deal, which delivers Martlet missiles to counter drones and armored threats.
This agreement generates over 700 jobs in Northern Ireland. The deal supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat push for self-reliant defense while enhancing Indo-Pacific security.
Additionally, both nations secured a £250 million contract for electric naval engines, advancing maritime tech. Consequently, this milestone strengthens UK-India ties, with prospects for further such collaborations ahead.
