NAB Auctions Three Bahria Town Assets, Plans Re-Auction for Unsold Properties

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi successfully auctioned three prime commercial properties linked to Bahria Town on August 7, 2025, to recover funds from a 2019 plea bargain tied to the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.

The auction, held at NAB’s Rawalpindi office in Sector G-6/1, Islamabad, fetched a combined Rs 2.27 billion, with Rubaish Marquee in Islamabad sold for Rs 508 million—Rs 20 million above its reserve price.

Corporate Office-I and Corporate Office-II in Rawalpindi drew conditional bids of Rs 876 million and Rs 881.5 million, respectively, pending final approval from NAB’s competent authority.

Three other properties failed to attract qualifying bids, and NAB plans to re-auction them soon.

This action follows the Islamabad High Court’s August 6, 2025, dismissal of Bahria Town’s petitions to halt the auction, enabling NAB to proceed under Section 33E of the NAB Ordinance, 1999.

The plea bargain, approved in 2019 by the accountability court, involved Bahria Town’s chairman, Malik Riaz, and his son, Ali Riaz, who defaulted on payments, prompting the seizure of assets.
