Pakistan hosted the Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Islamabad today, a significant step towards fostering regional security cooperation.

The landmark summit brought together top military leaders from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to advance strategic dialogue and military collaboration.

Chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), the conference underscored Pakistan’s growing role as a hub for regional security initiatives.

Field Marshal Munir welcomed the delegations, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to peace and constructive engagement in South and Central Asia.

Themed “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace,” the conference focused on enhancing military-to-military ties, counterterrorism strategies, and joint training initiatives.

The meeting addressed pressing regional challenges, including the rise of transnational threats like ISIS-K, border security, and the impact of climate-driven instability on defense operations.

The participation of the US marked a notable shift, signaling renewed defense engagement. Central Asian nations, key players in regional connectivity, stressed the need for collaborative frameworks to address terrorism and secure trade routes like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The summit also explored defense technology exchanges and joint exercises to strengthen regional resilience.
