Abdullah Nawaz Advances to Pre-Quarterfinals Of World Squash Jr. Championships 2025

Pakistan’s rising squash star Abdullah Nawaz has advanced to the Round of 32 at the 2025 World Squash Junior Championships held at the Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo, Egypt.

On July 22, 2025, the young athlete secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Canada’s Rohan Paliwal in the Round of 64, with a scoreline of 11-6, 11-3, and 11-3, showcasing his dominance on the court.

This win marks a strong start for Nawaz in the prestigious tournament, which features 234 of the world’s top under-19 squash talents competing from July 21 to August 1, 2025.

Abdullah Nawaz, seeded 5/8 in the men’s event, continued his impressive form later the same day, defeating Oscar Okonkwo of the USA in the Round of 32 with a score of 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, 11-2, securing his place in the pre-quarterfinals.

Nawaz is one of Pakistan’s brightest hopes, alongside defending men’s champion Hamza Khan and Huzaifa Ibrahim. However, other Pakistani players—Anas Ali Shah, Umair Arif, and Yahya Khan—faced early exits in the Round of 128.

Despite these setbacks, Nawaz’s back-to-back wins have kept Pakistan’s flag flying high, with fans and the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) rallying behind him. The PSF congratulated Nawaz on his victories, expressing optimism for his performance in the ongoing individual events (July 21-26) and the upcoming team events (July 27-August 1).
