Three Dead, Seven Injured in Kalat Bus Attack En Route to Quetta

An attack on a bus traveling from Karachi to Quetta claimed the lives of three individuals and left seven others injured in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Wednesday. The incident, which occurred in the Neemargh area, involved unidentified armed assailants opening fire on the moving bus, fueling concerns over security on key intercity routes.

According to local police, the bus was en route to Quetta when the attackers struck, targeting passengers in a brazen assault. The injured were promptly shifted to Kalat Civil Hospital, where medical teams are providing urgent care, with some victims reported to be in critical condition. Rescue teams, local police, and law enforcement agencies swiftly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area and launching a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.

The attack has heightened fears about the safety of travelers in Balochistan, a region that has faced recurring incidents of violence targeting civilians and transport routes. Authorities have yet to identify the motive behind the firing, but preliminary investigations suggest it could be linked to ongoing security challenges in the province. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of now.

The incident follows a pattern of violence in Balochistan, with recent attacks on highways raising questions about the effectiveness of security measures. The Balochistan government and law enforcement agencies are under pressure to enhance road safety and dismantle networks responsible for such acts. Further details are awaited as the police continue their investigation and search for the culprits.
