Pakistan, Azerbaijan Ink MoU for Legal and Judicial Collaboration

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the legal and judicial sectors, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral ties.

The agreement was signed during a visit by Pakistan’s Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, to Baku, as announced by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Saturday.

The MoU, signed between Pakistan’s Ministry of Law and Justice and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice, establishes a solid framework for collaboration in legal modernization, judicial reforms, and institutional exchanges. In the duration of his visit, Senator Tarar held high-level discussions with Azerbaijan’s leadership to advance these objectives.

In a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov, both leaders underlined the importance of legal diplomacy in fostering stronger bilateral relations. Senator Tarar also engaged in detailed talks with his counterpart, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov, focusing on modernizing legal systems, promoting the rule of law, and facilitating institutional exchanges. Additionally, Tarar met with Inam Karimov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court, to explore judicial reforms, digitalization of judicial processes, and the development of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

The MoU outlines key areas of cooperation, including legal and judicial collaboration, promotion of alternative dispute resolution, digital transformation of legal services, and knowledge exchange.

Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to building strong institutional ties and driving reforms in their justice sectors, paving the way for enhanced legal cooperation and mutual learning.
