Reports of explosions in Doha, Qatar, have come in, following Iran’s strike on the U.S.-operated Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American military facility in the Middle East.
According to Reuters and Axios, Iran launched six missiles targeting the base, with witnesses reporting loud blasts and projectiles visible over the Qatari capital.
Qatar had closed its airspace earlier today, citing regional instability, while the U.S. and UK embassies urged their citizens to take shelter due to a “credible threat” of an Iranian attack.
The Iranian missile barrage marks a significant escalation in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, into which the U.S. was drawn following its strikes on Iran’s Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities. Iranian state media, including Saberin News, claimed the attack, dubbed the “Operation Basharat al-Fath.”
