Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sanctioned 120-day special remission for sentenced prisoners in all the province’s prisons and correctional centers on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Adha 1446 Hijri (2025).
The Chief Minister explained that although this special concession covers a wide category of convicted persons, it has certain exclusions. Those convicted of capital punishment are not eligible. In addition, the remission will not cover those convicted of serious crimes, such as murder, espionage, sabotage, anti-state work, terrorism, Zina (fornication/adultery), kidnapping, dacoity (robbery with firearm), highway robbery, and corruption in financial matters. Those who have inflicted losses on the national treasury are also not eligible for this special pardon.
Each deserving prisoner’s remission will be formally recorded in their remission and history books. This action seeks to provide relief time for deserving inmates, upholding the values of rehabilitation in the judicial system, while insisting on fastidious regard for public safety and accountability for serious crimes.
