Lahore police have arrested a British national accused of robbing a bank near Bhatta Chowk in DHA Lahore, with investigators saying the suspect was allegedly inspired by Netflix shows.

According to DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran, the suspect, identified as Subhan Ali, entered the bank at around 9:19 am and allegedly remained inside for about nine minutes. Police said he took Rs726,000 in cash and two weapons belonging to security guards.

The suspect was reportedly traced through Safe City cameras and arrested within three hours. Police said they recovered Rs426,000, two pistols, a 12-bore rifle and a Honda Civic allegedly used in the robbery.

During questioning, Ali allegedly told investigators that watching Netflix shows made him believe a bank robbery could be carried out easily in Lahore. Police also said he had arrived from Britain on September 16 and needed money after spending around £1,200 that he had brought with him.

Authorities are investigating the alleged supply of illegal weapons and whether anyone else assisted in the robbery.
