Punjab CTD Arrests 13 Suspected Militants in 98 Operations

The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) says it has arrested 13 suspected militants during 98 intelligence-based operations conducted across the province this week.

According to a CTD spokesperson, one of those arrested, identified as Wajid, was allegedly linked to India’s intelligence agency RAW and was detained in Pakpattan. The other suspects were arrested in Lahore, Sargodha, Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Khushab, Chiniot, and Khanewal.

The CTD said it recovered explosive material, a hand grenade, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 12 detonators, and 35 feet of safety fuse wire from the suspects. Thirteen cases have reportedly been registered, with further investigations underway.

The department also reported conducting 1,595 combing operations with other law enforcement agencies during the week. More than 55,000 people were checked, resulting in the arrest of 52 additional suspects, according to the CTD.

Authorities said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and prevent militant activity across Punjab.
