The ride-hailing driver who took 25-year-old Mir Raza Ali from his home in PECHS to Gulistan-e-Johar shortly before his death has provided details of the young entrepreneur’s final journey, as investigators continue to probe the case.

Driver Ehsanullah said he accepted the booking at around 3:57 am and reached Ali’s location shortly after 4 am. He said Ali arrived a few minutes later and personally guided him through several routes, including Khalid bin Waleed Road, Tariq Road, Bahadurabad, Stadium Road, and Millennium Wall.

According to the driver, Ali also connected his phone to the car’s Bluetooth and played music during the journey. The ride continued through Perfume Chowk, Johar Mor, Mosamiyat, and Samama before reaching Continental Bakery.

Ehsanullah said Ali eventually directed him to take a turn and drop him off in front of a bank in Gulistan-e-Johar.

Ali was later found dead near a wedding hall in the area with a gunshot wound. His family had consistently maintained that he was murdered, while the case initially faced uncertainty over whether his death was a homicide or suicide. Findings from a second post-mortem strengthened the family’s claim that he had been killed.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has acknowledged lapses in the investigation, including issues concerning the medico-legal process. A new investigation team is now examining the case, while a court has directed police to submit a progress report by August 15.
