A senior Iranian military commander has claimed that the United States and Israel failed to achieve their objectives against Iran during the ongoing conflict, according to Iranian media.

Brigadier General Hassan Zadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Mohammad Rasulullah Corps in Tehran, made the remarks while visiting upgraded air-defence units of the 27th Mohammad Rasulullah Division.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Zadeh said the two countries had “completely failed” to accomplish their goals against the Islamic Republic. He attributed Iran’s ability to withstand the conflict to what he described as the country’s popular strength and the readiness of the Basij forces.

Zadeh also claimed that the military capabilities demonstrated so far represented only part of the potential of Iran’s forces. He further argued that US and Israeli leaders were struggling to explain what he described as repeated failures to their populations, political elites, and international public opinion.

The comments came as tensions remained high over the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran continuing to insist that the strategic waterway will remain closed until Washington meets its conditions.

Iranian officials have said negotiations involving Oman are progressing, but Tehran maintains that reopening the strait depends on additional conditions, including changes in US policy and other demands. Washington, meanwhile, has been pushing for the resumption of commercial shipping through the crucial energy route.

The latest statements underscore the continuing gap between Tehran and Washington as diplomatic efforts seek to end the conflict.
