Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to make the newly established federal government-operated National Central Data Center, Sky 47, available to all federal institutions, describing it as a key step towards improving digital governance and reducing public sector costs.

Chairing a meeting on digital transformation, the prime minister also ordered the National Digital Commission to convene at the earliest opportunity to consult all stakeholders, including provincial governments, on the implementation of the national digital policy. Established under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025, the commission is headed by the prime minister, with all four provincial chief ministers serving as members.

According to officials, the unified data center will provide a single, secure platform for storing and managing the data of all federal government institutions. The initiative is expected to eliminate the need for separate departmental data centers, improve coordination among public agencies and generate significant savings by reducing duplication of infrastructure and operational costs.

During separate meetings, Prime Minister Shehbaz also directed authorities to complete all under-construction Daanish Schools within the prescribed timelines, stressing that no delays would be tolerated. He further instructed officials overseeing Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reforms to intensify action against tax evasion, strengthen production tracking systems and accelerate efforts to bring the informal economy into the tax net.

The government says the digital transformation initiative is intended to modernise public administration, improve service delivery, and support Pakistan’s broader vision of a digitally connected and efficient public sector.
