Parliamentary Committee Proposes Sending Official Delegation to Madinah’s Roza-e-Rasool on State Expense

Pakistan’s National Assembly Standing Committee on Religious Affairs has proposed sending a parliamentary delegation at the government’s expense to Roza-e-Rasool ﷺ in Madinah to convey the “salaam (greetings)” of the Pakistani people, members said at a recent meeting chaired by PPP lawmaker Shagufta Jamani. The committee suggested that this delegation should visit Madinah and Makkah annually to represent the nation’s respect and offer prayers on its behalf.

According to the recommendation, 10 members of parliament (up from seven) would form the group and may include family members at their own cost. The delegation’s travel, accommodation and associated expenses would be funded by the National Assembly, with the Pakistan House in Saudi Arabia hosting them until construction of its official accommodation is completed.

Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Yusuf backed the proposal, saying it would be an honour and that necessary facilities—including medical support and visa arrangements—will be provided.
