Putin Says He Is Ready for Peace in Ukraine, Outlines Conditions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated he is prepared for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict, but insists it must be based on previously agreed principles. Putin stated that resolving the crisis necessitates addressing the root causes of the war, rather than merely halting the fighting, and reaffirmed his readiness to negotiate within the recognised frameworks established last year.

In his remarks, Putin also acknowledged the efforts of US President Donald Trump, saying Trump is making sincere efforts toward ending the war, and suggested that responsibility now lies with Ukraine and Western countries to move negotiations forward.

His comments come amid ongoing international diplomatic pressure to find a ceasefire and political settlement to the long-running conflict, which has caused widespread humanitarian and geopolitical repercussions since 2022.
