A man narrowly escaped a tragic accident at Melbourne International Airport, Australia, when the lithium power bank in his pocket suddenly caught fire.
According to international media reports, the incident occurred inside the Qantas Airlines business lounge, where the power bank overheated and burst into flames, filling the entire lounge with thick smoke. Around 150 people were safely evacuated from the area by the staff.

Airport officials said the staff immediately rushed the injured passenger to the lounge shower area, where medical personnel provided first aid on the spot. The man was later taken to a hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable and out of danger.
Following the incident, Qantas Airlines announced that it is reviewing its policy regarding lithium batteries and power banks, and new safety guidelines will be issued soon.
It is worth noting that several international airlines have already directed passengers to store power banks and spare batteries only in carry-on or under-seat luggage, and not in overhead compartments. Some airlines have banned in-flight use or charging of power banks entirely, while others have set restrictions based on power capacity.
