Pakistani comedian-singer Ali Gul Pir has called out what he sees as a bizarre pattern in his social media critics; many of his most abusive, vile, and aggressive respondents seem to support the same political party.

Speaking about the wave of online negativity, Gul Pir wondered aloud why some of his fiercest critics “happen to be supporters of a particular party.” The entertainer highlighted how dissenting voices online are often dismissed as being paid or partisan, rather than as a genuine critique.
Gul Pir, known for his satirical songs like “Waderai Ka Beta”, stressed that in today’s climate of hyper-polarised politics, social-media abuse often aligns with political loyalties, not just fandom or online trolling.
Highlighting the severity of the trolling, Gul Pir revealed that the volume of “abusive, vile, and aggressive” comments prompted him to question the motivations behind them, especially when he observed recurring political affiliation among the critics.
For his part, the comedian emphasised that while he welcomes criticism, the consistency of torrent-like abuse from one political camp raised deeper questions about the nature of free speech, political allegiance, and whether dissenting voices truly get to exist unlabelled online.
