NEPRA Cuts Electricity Rates by Rs 1.89 per Unit for August–October Relief

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a significant reduction in electricity tariffs by Rs 1.89 per unit for all power distribution companies, including K-Electric, under the quarterly adjustment mechanism for April to June 2025.

This relief, effective from August to October 2025, will lower monthly bills for millions of consumers across Pakistan, delivering a total savings of Rs 55.87 billion. NEPRA forwarded the decision to the federal government for final notification on August 7, 2025.

Additionally, NEPRA approved a separate 78-paisa-per-unit reduction under the June 2025 fuel price adjustment (FPA), which will appear in August electricity bills. This adjustment, however, excludes K-Electric consumers.

The tariff reduction excludes lifeline and prepaid meter users, preserving protections for vulnerable groups.
