Karachi Driver’s Family Welcomes Five Premature Babies via C-Section

A couple from Baldia Town, Karachi, welcomed quintuplets—five babies born simultaneously—on July 22, 2025, at a local hospital in the city. This marks a phenomenon that occurs naturally in 1 in 55,000,000 births.

The babies, born prematurely at 29 weeks via an emergency cesarean section, have brought both joy and challenges to the family. The father, Adnan Sheikh, is a driver by profession who married just a year ago and is now the father of five infants, all of whom are receiving intensive medical care due to their fragile condition.

The quintuplets, born significantly earlier than the typical 40-week gestation period, have very low birth weights, a common issue in multiple births, particularly at such an early stage. Each baby faced respiratory distress, a frequent complication in premature infants due to underdeveloped lungs.

Doctors promptly placed all five on oxygen support and conducted initial laboratory tests to monitor their health. According to medical staff, the babies’ condition has shown improvement since birth, though they remain under close observation in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
