Woman Killed by Husband and Father Over Divorce Demand

Irum Bibi, a 25-year-old woman, was brutally murdered in Karachi’s Afghan Basti, Gulshan-e-Memar, allegedly by her husband and father. Further details suggest the case has been solved, and the police have arrested both suspects identified as Irum’s husband, Noor Muhammad, and her father, Yasin, in connection with the crime.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation West, Azam Jamali, the incident occurred on June 23, when Irum Bibi’s body was recovered from her home. Initially, the family members attempted to quietly bury her body, but police intervened following a tip-off from the residents. The dead body was taken into custody and then transferred to a hospital for further investigation.

SSP Azam Jamali revealed that Irum Bibi was a victim of domestic violence and had expressed her desire to seek a divorce from her husband. When she refused to put up with further abuse and continue living with him, she was mercilessly killed by her own father and husband.

The arrested suspects are to be presented in court, where the police will seek their remand for further investigation to uncover additional details and motives behind the murder.
