Oil prices climbed on Thursday, October 22, 2026, as escalating tensions in the Middle East raised concerns about potential disruptions to global energy supplies.

According to Reuters, Brent crude futures rose $1.29, or 1.2%, to $110.11 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 97 cents, or 1%, to $98.12.
The price increase followed attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement on targets in Saudi Arabia. Reports said strikes on a civilian airport in Dammam left one person dead and eight injured, while a drone attack on an oil field killed two people.
The US State Department ordered non-emergency government employees and their families to leave its missions in Saudi Arabia, citing security concerns linked to the attacks. US officials also indicated that family members at other regional missions could be withdrawn, although the department clarified that its formal departure order applied to Saudi Arabia.
Analysts have warned that continued regional hostilities and threats to shipping routes could disrupt oil supplies and keep energy prices volatile.
