Oxford Union Debate: Indian Delegation Withdraws, Giving Pakistan a Walk-over Victory

The Indian delegation abruptly withdrew from a scheduled debate at the Oxford Union, handing a no-contest victory to the Pakistani side, the Pakistan High Commission in London said.

With prominent Pakistani figures, including ex-foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar and retired general Zubair Mahmood Hayat, present, the exit of Indian speakers before the debate revealed what many see as a collapse of the Indian narrative. The event, intended to challenge India’s Pakistan policy and highlight issues like self-determination for Kashmir, ended without debate. According to the High Commission, India’s withdrawal exposed a reliance on “propaganda” over substantive argument.
