Court Rejects KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur’s Plea, Orders Arrest by July 21

On July 19, 2025, the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case involving the alleged recovery of liquor and illegal weapons from 2016. Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti rejected Gandapur’s plea for exemption from personal appearance and ordered the police to arrest and present him before the court by July 21, 2025.

The case stems from an October 2016 incident when Islamabad police claimed to have recovered five Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, six magazines, a bulletproof vest, three tear gas shells, and a bottle of liquor from a vehicle linked to Gandapur near Bani Gala. Gandapur has denied the allegations, asserting the weapons were licensed and the bottle contained honey, not alcohol. The court warned that a verdict could be issued in his absence if he fails to appear, noting the case’s eight-year pendency.
