Pakistan’s automotive sector, which faced economic pressures and import restrictions in recent years, witnessed a remarkable recovery in June 2025, according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). Car sales soared to 21,773 units, marking a 64% year-on-year (YoY) increase and a 47% month-on-month (MoM) rise, reaching the highest level since March 2022.
The surge was primarily driven by strong sales of the Suzuki Alto, which hit a 39-month peak, reflecting robust consumer demand. For the fiscal year 2024-25 (July 2024 to June 2025), total vehicle sales, including cars, jeeps, and pick-ups, reached 148,023 units, a 43% increase from 103,829 units in FY 2023-24.
In the two- and three-wheeler segment, June 2025 saw sales of 138,509 units, up 54% YoY, though down 9% MoM. Over FY 2024-25, this category recorded 1.52 million units sold, a 32% rise compared to the previous fiscal year.
Analysts attribute the auto sector’s revival to a stable macroeconomic environment, lower interest rates, new vehicle variants, and growing consumer confidence.
