Case of Humaira Asghar: Police Suspect Death To Have Taken Place Several Months Prior

The mysterious death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali, found deceased in her Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI apartment on July 8, 2025, has taken a shocking turn as new evidence points to her passing occurring as early as October 2024.

The 32-year-old star, known for her role in ARY Digital’s Tamasha Ghar and the 2015 film Jalaibee, was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition, prompting a deeper investigation into the circumstances of her untimely demise.

Initial reports indicated that Humaira’s body was found after a court-ordered eviction due to unpaid rent since early 2024, with early estimates suggesting she had been deceased for approximately 15 to 20 days. However, new digital and forensic evidence revealed, including expired food items and phone records, suggests the death to have taken place several months prior.

“The last messages on her phone and the expiry dates of food found in the flat point to October 2024,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza stated. The electricity supply to her apartment had also been disconnected due to unpaid bills around the same time.

Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed described the decomposition of Humaira’s body as being in a “very advanced stage,” which has posed complications in determining the cause of death. Meanwhile, a postmortem has been completed, but the police await results for the chemical examiner’s report and toxicology.

DNA and chemical samples have been collected, and findings will be shared once lab reports are received,” she said.

DIG Raza revealed that Humaira’s family initially refused to claim her body. “Her father declined responsibility, but her brother-in-law is expected to arrive in Karachi today to coordinate with authorities,” he stated. Meanwhile, members of the entertainment industry have offered to conduct her final rites in the face of continued refusal by her family.

As the investigation continues, the tragic circumstances of Humaira’s death—unnoticed for months in one of Karachi’s busiest districts—raise broader questions about oversight, community awareness, and the hidden struggles of public figures. Her body remains in the Chhipa morgue, awaiting either family acceptance or a burial arranged by her peers.
