Arhan Arcade Sealed: Lyari Building Declared Dangerous Due to Unsafe Structure

In Karachi’s Lyari area, a seven-storey building in Agra Taj Colony has been sealed following the discovery of cracks, raising serious concerns about its structural integrity. The building, identified as Arhan Arcade, was constructed using substandard materials, prompting legal action against its builder, Mansoor Shah.

An FIR has been registered against him at the Kalri police station, based on a complaint filed by Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Director of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) in Lyari.

According to the FIR, the building was declared dangerous due to its poor construction quality and unauthorized modifications. The SBCA had previously issued notices on April 22 and July 2, directing the evacuation of the structure to prevent potential loss of life and property.

Despite these warnings, the builder, Mansoor Shah, allegedly ignored repeated calls to address the issue and failed to take corrective measures. The use of substandard materials has rendered the building highly unstable, with authorities warning that it could collapse at any moment, posing a severe risk to residents and surrounding areas.

In response to the growing threat, the building was evacuated to ensure the safety of its occupants, and critical utilities, including the water tank and electricity supply, were disconnected.

The structure has now been officially sealed to prevent access and mitigate further risks.
